Grosvenor and Hilbert Hub
Renovation and extension of the community hub building at Grosvenor and Hilbert Park in Tunbridge Wells
Frances was project Architect for the extension and refurbishment of the community hub pavilion at Grosvenor and Hilbert Park, whilst working for Kaner Olette Architects in 2015. The existing building housed the changing rooms for the bowls club, a cafe and public toilets. It was a tired and unwelcoming building on the gateway to the park.
The pavilion was extended to allow for a larger, light-filled cafe space and multi-function community space. The building fabric was also upgraded to current standards, over-clad in timber and the glazing was replaced throughout. The pavilion has had a much-needed refresh and is now well used by the whole community.
The client was Tunbridge Wells Borough council and the project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The pavilion was part of a wider masterplan of the park by Allen Scott Landscape Architects.
