Sharpe Architecture is a RIBA Chartered practice in Tunbridge Wells, designing thoughtful contemporary homes across Kent, Sussex, London and the South East.
We work with existing and listed buildings, substantial extensions and alterations and new homes.
Our approach is not simply about adding space, but making homes work better, bringing in light, improving connections between rooms and gardens, and creating places that feel beautiful and effortless to live in.

Design, Detail & Delivery
We look carefully at how each property is used, how its rooms connect and how it relates to its context. Sometimes this leads to an extension. In other cases, reorganising the existing house can provide a better solution without adding unnecessary space.
When we develop our proposals, the architecture and technical design are considered together from the outset. Where appropriate, we coordinate structure, heating, cooling, ventilation, insulation, solar panels, rainwater management and landscape as part of the overall design.
This approach allows the practical and environmental requirements of the home to be integrated discreetly, while maintaining the clarity of the architecture.
As a small practice, we work closely with our clients and remain personally involved as projects develop. Our service can include planning, technical design, consultant coordination, tendering and support throughout construction.
Studio
Sharpe Architecture is a small RIBA Chartered practice led by Frances and Simon Sharpe from our studio in Tunbridge Wells.
We set up the practice to work closely with our clients and stay personally involved throughout each project. We like getting to know how people live, what they value about their home and what they would change — not just producing a design and moving on.
Our work combines creative thinking with a strong technical understanding of how buildings are put together. We enjoy the big moves that can transform a house, but care just as much about the smaller decisions — how daylight falls into a room, the feel of a material, where you put your coat when you come through the door.
As a small studio, the people you meet at the beginning remain involved as the project develops, from the first conversations through to the detail of construction
Let’s talk about your project.
If you are planning an extension, renovation, whole-house refurbishment or new home, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Tell us a little about the property, what is not working at the moment, what you are hoping to achieve and your approximate budget.
We will let you know whether we think we can help and suggest the most sensible next step.
