Rusthall Remodel

A kitchen knock-through to create a more open, light-filled family space.

We were asked to help redesign the kitchen and dining room areas of this Victorian house in Rusthall which was previously very dark and lacked natural light. The client wanted a feasibility study to explore all the options for different layouts and remodelling the space, as well as a more detailed interior design study to look at materials, textures, fittings and finishes.

Our clients were very keen on natural materials such as wood, metal and stone, and wanted to use these finishes to achieve a light industrial aesthetic for the new spaces. We provided the client with a design guide, detailing furniture, fittings, colour palettes and mood boards to achieve the aesthetic they were after. Throughout the design process we modelled the developing design in 3D to help the clients visualise and understand the new spaces.

The project was completed in 2022.

“We are thrilled with our new kitchen/diner snug, which is all thanks to Sharpe Architecture. Fran helped us at the design stage, coming up with some excellent ideas to create clean lines and improve light in our north- facing space. She produced plans and a specification, helped us select our builder by reviewing quotes, arranged structural engineer input, obtained building regulation approval and provided an invaluable design brief on which we were able to build. She listened carefully to what we wanted and showed great flexibility and patience in the face of our lack of experience and indecision! She was a pleasure to work with and comes very highly recommended.”
